Early Spring Meeting

Brian Doddington & Joe Manders

On Wednesday the 26th of March at Perranporth Golf Club in excellent weather conditions, the CSGA played its first event of the season. 46 members were greeted with superb conditions for the time of year and no excuses could be blamed on the course.

The greens being very slick and the putting green out of action, one would think it would favour the home club players early into the round. However, this was not wholly the case with several away two balls starting with 5 or six points on the first two holes.

Being a betterball competition, the result would favour teams who scored on every hole. Overall, five teams had 40pts or better. The winning score today with 43pts was Brian Doddington and Joe Manders. Second place with 42pts was Ian Coutts and Don Ruhrmund and third place went to Gareth Wyn-Jones and Derek Law with 41pts.

Nearest the pin was won by Ian Coutts and three players Roger Shobrook, Graham Parkyn and Derek Law shared the 2s kitty  The only disappointment was the changing rooms were being upgraded to certify fire safety requirements which meant we could not shower after the event.

The next event is playing for the Spring Shield at The Point on the 28th of April with a first tee of 10am. This event will be live to book by the weekend. Go to www.csga.co.uk for further information. New members are always made welcome as are single players who we match up with other players.

WHS Update

WHS have made changes to the Handicapping system by adding (Course Rating – Course Par) to the current Course Handicap!
This change will affect lower handicap golfers more than higher ones.
It is now possible to submit a 4BBB score for handicap under certain conditions.
There is also a change to the score recorded for a hole not played.
The details can be found by clicking this link – WHS Changes
