Late Spring Meeting
On Wednesday 24th May at the Point Golf Club we staged our first ever (in living memory) Texas Scramble. The weather was wall-to-wall sunshine and the course was in superb condition although the rough was rough and long (to protect ground nesting birds?) and so straight hitting was essential.
Eleven teams (44 players) took part and the overall consensus afterwards was that the event was a success.
There were some very good scores with the winners recording a very creditable 56.6. Most unusually for a Scramble there was a tie for 1st place and the day belonged to a St Mellion team of Allan Evans, Brian Pound, Bruce Sobey & Alvin Edney.
Missing out on count back were Fred Grist, Ed Rowe, Andrew Hurrell & Richard Webb from West Cornwall.
